Teen Sacramental prep is offered for anyone in middle or high school who is interested in preparing for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist. Generally speaking we ask that teens actively participate in youth ministry and attend weekly Mass for a year prior to starting immediate preparation for the sacraments. This allows the teens time to learn their faith, grow in relationship with Christ, and in relationship with their Parish community. At this age it’s important for young people receiving the sacraments to identify themselves as Catholic, to have a desire to receive the sacraments, and an intention to remain a disciple of Christ. This can take some time.
Sacramental preparation is 6 sessions that our young people attend in addition to active participation in Sunday youth ministry and weekend Mass. Each young person comes to sacramental preparation with different needs so it’s important to meet with Marissa or Deacon Manuel at the beginning of the process to access what would be the best fit for each teen. The class is taught primarily in English but we strive to have a Spanish speaker as a co-teacher since many of our young people celebrate the sacraments in Spanish even if they also speak English.
Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation is a separate preparation. For more information on preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation click here.
We are overjoyed that these young people want to grow closer to Christ and His Church through the sacramental life.
To register for the class click here English | Spanish. Be sure to register your teen for middle or high school youth ministry as well. If you are unsure whether your teen is ready for this class please contact Marissa or Deacon Manuel and we will figure it out together. The cost is $15.
