Interested in the Catholic Church?
Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) -What is it? The RCIA is the process by which men and women become members of the Catholic Church. Because the process is ongoing, people begin whenever the Spirit moves them to inquire. The Rite of Christian Initiation goes on within the context of the parish community.
RCIA is a “Journey of Faith”. It is an on-going process that explores all aspects of Discipleship. Those who journey are searching together with other adults for continual spiritual growth.
Consider joining us on this journey if you are an adult who is:
- Unbaptized, and seeking Baptism, Eucharist, Reconcilation, and Confirmation.
- Baptized in another Christian community but desiring Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation in the Catholic Church.
- Baptized Catholic, but have never received the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconcilation, and Confirmation in order to fully participate in the Catholic Church.
- Non-Catholic, married to a Catholic spouse and attending Mass as a couple, and you want to share fully in the Catholic faith.
The RCIA process of Faith Formation includes several areas:
The study of scripture is important because scripture tells the stories of God’s people and gives historical perspective.
Catholic Catechism is explored, so that the beliefs of the Catholic Church are understood.
Prayer is stressed, since it is one of the most powerful ways to communicate with God.
Liturgy is discussed so that how the Community worships makes sense and the beauty of the Mass is appreciated.
The mission of our church, our parish, and each individual is explained, since they allow us to live out what we believe.
If you know of any one that is interested in joining our Catholic Faith, receiving missed sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation or Confirmation please have them contact Maria Nunez in the Parish Office at 301-845-8043,
Our 2021-2022 Sessions will begin September 8th at 7:00pm in the Church.
